Exactly what I needed!

I've recently started making ice cream and wanted a nice spoon to go with it. I like to think I'm pretty good at making ice cream, but people also eat with their eyes, so I wanted it to be served well. As most homemade ice cream makers will tell you, store-bought ice cream uses a variety of additives and processing techniques to make ice cream perfect for slicing. Homemade ice cream is easier and cleaner by comparison, and so the old "soak a scoop under warm water and bury it" method can end up melting the ice cream depending on how much time you spend scooping and serving. whether you will thaw it on the counter and how cold your freezer will be. With that in mind, I was looking for a good shovel that didn't need to be heated underwater and that could make a nice shovel shape. I didn't want the scoop to be too big either; small scoops hold their shape better longer and I wanted to be able to serve multiple servings of small scoops at ice cream tasting parties when making some fancy flavors when having fun. With these goals in mind, I spent some time searching the internet for scoops before settling on this one, which includes strong recommendations from Janie Britton Bauer, the ice cream maker who wrote Janie's Great Ice Cream at Home, my source for information on homemade ice cream making techniques. . I'm very glad I did! It feels premium in the hand and makes very good shoveling. I prefer it to the larger portion I grew up with as I can serve multiple servings of a handful of flavors and if someone doesn't like something little goes to waste. I just take the scoop, rock it back and forth in my hand for a moment to transfer heat from my hand to the end of the scoop with the warmer in handle, and I'm ready to serve! I've included some photos of my first use for reference; I'd say it's pretty easy to get good little scoops with this. :) (The white tub I keep ice cream in for freezing is the Tovolo Glide-A-Scoop Ice Cream Tub, white is 2.5 liters - a must have for home ice cream makers who don't use an ice cream maker or like to add more ingredients , than a sundae can hold!)
