My positive experience

2006 Liberty Limited: As the OEM hook did not come with a wiring harness I installed it and it worked very well. You will need some long zip ties as these were not supplied with this harness. It was a relatively easy setup. The only step that doesn't follow the instructions, and I haven't seen any other mention, is that my car doesn't have any screws or cargo ties that can be removed near the 12vdc socket to mount the side panel. After removing the sill, the side panel detached with a similar jerk and the cable connector was found in a hollow metal hole. I found the connector much easier to work with, having previously removed the black pointed retainer holding it to the metal. Pinch the front ears and slide them out through the opening. Before disconnecting the connector, try the red slide latch and gray push-tab on the new wire harness to familiarize yourself with how it works to save time and hassle in the panel. A white ground wire must be installed and - A self-tapping screw is included. The rubber grommet that the spade connector passes through is easy to find and access by pulling back a corner of the rug. Install the included cap on the trailer end cap before routing to avoid contamination. At the same time, the supplied lubricant can be refilled. Cut a slit in the rubber large enough for the stopper. Underneath the vehicle, route the cable as high as possible above the exhaust pipe, secure with a cable tie, then route near the tow hitch and tie again. Finally, I checked each connection with a multimeter. Unfortunately, the instructions don't color code the function of the cables, so I had to look online. Total time 30-45 minutes.
