I was so happy to get this airbrush and use it. I read the manual and setup was very easy. I had a friend show me how to disassemble and reassemble an airbrush (gravity feed brush) this might help although it doesn't require assembling an airbrush to get started. It was only useful to know for the cleanup. As already mentioned, the compressor gets very hot. I've used mine on a table and countertop in an open space so there is adequate ventilation and I haven't had any overheating issues. The compressor will vibrate when running, so be careful. On my desk, the suction cups were enough to keep it from moving, but on my countertop, it moved so much I had to put it on the floor. I'm not sure what's the difference. As for the airbrush - I had to adjust the needle slightly due to clogging issues. I also had problems with sweating. But then a friend of mine who is very knowledgeable about airbrushes showed me what I was doing wrong and those issues were mostly resolved. It turns out that instead of moving the trigger back to the air-only position and THEN releasing it, I let go of the trigger at full spray. The right technique is very important for the correct operation of the device! Haven't used a siphon or gravity gun yet. According to the manual, there was enough water to clean the gun. Most airbrush cleaning solutions are NOT food safe. If using only water, use distilled water as a final rinse to prevent the minerals in your gun from drying out. I used Everclear alcohol to clean it so it dries quickly. So far this has worked well. I also took out the needle to clean after my project was fully finished and noticed that it needs to be cleaned even though the instructions don't call for it. I didn't get the shimmery color with this purchase, as stated in the description but I also ordered the metallic colors of bronze, silver, gold, copper and red glitter and they were all great colors for a steampunk cake I made. to prevent the minerals in your gun from drying out.
