I'm just starting out with planing/wood carving but I've been a knife collector all my life so I know about knives. Beavercraft knives might not be the Rolls-Royce carving knives, but they're certainly no slouch. Especially at this price they are great value for money! I wasn't really expecting much but these are solid, sharp and comfortable knives. The three blades in the kit do pretty much whatever you need. The addition of leather for leveling and compounding is a huge plus. (I attached the leather to a piece of wood for convenience.) You want to apply the compound to the rough side of the leather. Trimming your knives before each use will keep them sharp. The knife roll has slots for four knives, so I added a Beavercraft Sloyd knife. Very good sentence!
