I bought these knives because they were what I wanted but at an average price. I needed good quality steel to keep the edge sharp. Nameless brands don't talk enough about their products. Also, unnamed brands may not even stay connected to the handles properly or have a longer lifespan. I would like a slightly bigger pen because I have big hands. The Beavercraft brand seems to offer good products backed by reach, with PDFs and videos on their website. I will probably buy from them again.

I just received my wood carving kit from Amazon. Decided to try the knives first as soon as they came out of the box. Acceptable but not very hard. I then sharpened the knives with my Japanese whetstone and then with a belt. Big difference. Now they treat my cuts effortlessly. I have worked with woodworking tools for many years. Most manufacturers grind blades and then stop production. To truly have a sharp tool that is in tune, the user must sharpen it unless you buy a hand-made tool for a lot

An excellent set for beginners. I wanted to try a new hobby so I jumped in. The knives are sharp, but need to be sharpened a bit, thanks to the belt that comes with them. Pros: The handles are comfortable. The steel is good and getting sharper all the time. The roll of fabric is actually quite nice. I'm just starting out with planing and was looking for a decent set of knives to start with. I'm glad I came across this knife set. For the price, this was a great set to start with. I've only carved blocks of basswood, but these knives hold their edge well. When they start to dull, quickly go over the intended stop and they'll shave and trim like new again. I'm just starting out with planing/wood carving but I've been a knife collector all my life so I know about knives. Beavercraft knives might not be the Rolls-Royce carving knives, but they're certainly no slouch. Especially at this price they are great value for money! I wasn't really expecting much but these are solid, sharp and comfortable knives. The three blades in the kit do pretty much whatever you need.
