Review on 🚲 Cartman Garage Ceiling-Mounted Bike Lift - 2 Pack, Mountain Bicycle Hoist by Colin Arcos

The overhead bike storage is great and this roller system makes it easy to raise and lower. The supplied screws are complete rubbish and belong straight in the rubbish bin. I mean do you really want your bike to hit your car or your head? I tried using a few of these and just screwed them into a regular 2x4, the heads came loose before they even reached the metal mount. The screws are terribly weak. Didn't know screws could be made from such soft metal. In any case, assembly wasn't particularly difficult, but working on the ceiling itself is never "easy", at least not uncomfortable. Any garage ceiling high enough to mount your bike in this vertical orientation is a high ceiling, so it's not surprising to work, drill and screw on a tall frame ladder, but a simple DIYer can certainly do it . In our case, the overhead supports were oriented in the same direction that I wanted to mount the bike, so I couldn't just use the included metal brackets directly into the supports, since I was mounting the bike between the supports just below the exposed drywall. So I used two 2x4 bars as cross braces to mount them higher into the crossbars on either side, then I bolted bike lift mounts to these 2x4s and that was all I needed. Installation was easy (once I used real screws I had to fill them in myself) but figuring out exactly where to install them to get the bike hanging exactly where I wanted it took a lot more time and measurements. Overall I highly recommend these bike lifts and I think they represent excellent value for money. Oh, and the rope is pretty weak too, so I might have to replace it with a really strong rope in a few years when it wears out. So for this purchase you are basically buying two bike mounts and pulleys and the screws that come with it should not be used and the rope is questionable in the long run.
