Review on πŸ”Œ FOXWELL OBD2 Female to 20pin Extension Convert Adapter - OBD1 to OBD II Cable (11 Inch) by Roberto Strumer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Required for some BMW models, even if they have an OBD2 connection!

I've been desperately trying to get my foxwell scanner to work on my 2000 X5. I was able to read the engine codes from the OBD2 port but the scanner couldn't communicate with other modules even though it said it supports my BMW. I was baffled why it could see the CEL codes but not SRS/SAS/etc. Turns out some BMWs came with both OBD2 *and* a "PacMan" port in the engine bay! Serious? Yup.AND.BMW only diagnoses through the 20-pin PacMan port, so reading codes from the OBD2 port is not possible. So many frustrations but this little conversion adapter helped me read SRS codes and ABS codes to diagnose and clear codes. This is mandatory for early BMW models but make sure some models have BOTH connectors and if trying to read non-engine codes this is the only way. I've read on the forums that everyone agrees that the PacMan connector should be the ONLY connector used for all purposes and never use the OBD2 connector even if you pollute your car. That makes sense because I always had a problem with the smog station trying to read my VIN, but now I don't have that problem anymore.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • can't remember but there was something
