This is a thin magnetic stripe that works pretty well depending on your needs.1. I have Roomba and Shark IQ robots and they work pretty well with the Shark but not so much with the Roomba. It's funny because it worked fine the first day, but after a week Roomba kept failing.2. If you put it under a rug, it may fail. I have a shaggy carpet so I leave the strip open and hide it under the carpet fibers. When I placed this strip directly under the padding of the mat, both units failed. With the Shark branded magnetic strips that come with the device, I don't have this problem. 3. It's a bit shiny, but I don't mind because the shaggy carpet covers it up. If this is a problem for you because you are using it in a door frame or in an open area, you can buff it with light sand. It goes perfectly with my dark wood floors! Overall, I'd suggest trying it out if you're on a tight budget. If you want to keep things simple, choose the manufacturer's branded magnetic strips.
