I recently had a damaged hard drive that can't access the boot sector at all. I ended up buying a new hard drive and wanted to find a cheap way to destroy all the data from the old hard drive. Placing my hard drive in this case and connecting it to my PC was a breeze. Windows was able to recognize the two partitions I created (one for shared operating system files and one for data). He found that both partitions were damaged, but was able to "repair" the bad sectors (or so he claimed). In the end I was able to recover most of the files I had on my data partition.
