Still pulling things up
We have used it at least ten times in the fast moving river behind my house and it works. Rope, knot and magnet all still intact. Magnet slightly rusted but we have pulled a bunch of stuff up. Only had one time where it wouldn't pull an item up but who knows what it even was.
