I've only recently started making candles and have had a lot of fun. Lots of ups and downs in this learning process but these wicks have been great with every candle. I use 8 ounce straight wall jars and they are perfect. I believe some of the negative reviews are due to insufficient research. Therefore, in order not to stand upright while pouring the wax, they make wick centering devices that hold the wick still and keep it centered while pouring. (Shown in picture) I also glue mine to the base, or they make wick stickers to hold them in place. Soot problems that people seem to have can be due to the wrong wick size, wrong sized glass, etc. There can be so many things that have nothing to do with the quality of these wicks. If I've learned anything from this, it's that candle making is an art and it takes a lot of testing with a lot of different variables to get it right. I use gb444 soy wax in 8 ounce cans and these wicks have been great for me. Slow, even burn.
