Review on Flitz BU03515 Blue Cleaner Fluid_Ounces by Brian Schultz

Great for brass and copper

My parents lived in Pakistan for several years and came back with hundreds of bass and copper vessels, pots, cymbals etc. I just inherited a few of them, and many were in dire need of a polish. Some had corrosion, dark stains, stains, etc., in addition to the usual dark corrosion. For hard-to-reach areas I used Flitz's Brass and Copper Tarnish Remover Spray. This material removes corrosion and paints perfectly. I use this flitz polish and it works great. On brasses with deep cut patterns, using Brasso left a light green deposit on the lines which was unsightly. The flitz leaves a darker mark (if I don't buff it the residue goes away) that accentuate the lines and beautify the piece. I tackle each section at a time, making sure I have plenty of paper towels on hand. First it turns black, then as I rub and rub the lacquer off the dark shade gets lighter and lighter until light brass shows through. It's not easy, but it's a lot easier to use than other polishes and does a fantastic job. The huge brass pot in the photo was covered in old paint that was yellowed and cracked and corroded in places. I took it outside and removed the outer layer of paint with paint remover, then used Flitz Tarnish Remover to remove any last bit of yellowing and corrosion. I sprayed it with a garden hose and dried it. You can see where I am in a photo from the side where I took the polish off and sprayed the tarnish remover, the surface was still stained. So I decided on Flitz paint. and now he is quite brilliant while retaining some of his character. It was real work, but the results are excellent. Highly recommended.
