Chefman Burr Grinder. Three month review:

I bought this grinder based on some reviews I read after being disappointed with what the famous brands were offering, again based on the reviews alone. I bought this grinder for about $38 and see it's gone up a lot. I wouldn't pay more for it. I don't think it's worth the extra price increase. A few reasons why: 1. It's a simple, run-of-the-mill (pun intended) coffee grinder. No frills. But that's what I wanted. For $382. It has a brain of its own and works hands-free unless the plastic lid over the funnel is closed. I can't figure out why. I just loosely cover the funnel with a plastic lid.3. The way the coffee grounds collect in the plastic cap ALWAYS makes a mess. I think this is because plastic always seems to have static electricity which is why ground coffee sticks to the latch outside and inside. Nothing really special in the general scheme of things for $38. Good things: 1. It was $382. The coffee grind seems fairly even and there are multiple grind settings available. I usually use two, one (coarse grind) for a French press and 10 for a cheap coffee maker.3. Seems pretty solid but lots of plastic but key parts are made from durable materials; actual meat grinder mechanism. Time will tell.4. Very easy to clean and easy to follow instructions. I'll do another review maybe in about a year of ownership, but so far I have no regrets about my $38 purchase.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging
