Maybe it was just this unit I pulled off the property and checked out, but the one I got is absolutely useless unless you just want to find lighted places to walk . Darkness. I really wanted to like it, but after trying to get it to work properly I gave up. The price is too high for this product considering its characteristics. Seems well made until you start using it. No matter how little concentration you have, it is very difficult to maintain concentration. Mono will never focus when you take it out of its case/bag as the slightest movement of the dial will cause it to blur. Even when it's most focused, you still can't see animals you don't want to see. For example, you cannot tell a raccoon from a rabbit 25 feet away. I have used many and own several good generation 1 night vision goggles and this was nowhere near the cheapest model I had. If you're just looking at the light or the stars maybe that's fine, but if you use it to spot bears when you exit bear sanctuary you'll have trouble because the bears will find you first.
