Setup was easy, plug everything in (turn on DVD expander and connect eSata to QIP 7232 and DVR Expander), turn off QIP 7232 for 15 seconds and plug power back in . The QIP 7232 will reboot when power is restored. After the reboot, go to the QIP 7232 menu and select the option to add storage and follow the instructions. YOU WILL NOT LOSE ANYTHING ALREADY RECORDED ON THE QIP 7232 DVR. My DVR drive was 70% full and finally everything was still in place. The system manages the new memory as a separate memory resource and adds a new tab to your menu where you can see the new memory status. Programming set to record now uses the new DVR expander storage, and a new icon next to recorded programs shows which drive your content is stored on. It is so easy. Recording space on your new DVR Expander. I recorded 3 hours (recording 5 shows) of new programs on it and the status says 3% of the space is used. It works for me. UPDATE: March 2013 Drive still works great, no problems. After experimenting with it, I expect it to hold around 120 hours of HD video content at full load.
