Review on Dell S2340M - 23 Inch LED Lit Monitor with 1920X1080 Resolution, 60Hz Refresh Rate, and High Definition - ‎293M3 Model by Allen Gierach

I have two other Dell UltraSharp 21" IPS monitors in my office that I like, they are a few years old and much more expensive than this one. I picked this monitor up for an additional computer mainly because of the low price and my positive experience with other Dell monitors. After unboxing and installing this new monitor, I was disappointed with the overall finish and quality. This monitor has an excellent picture , Colors look rich and blacks look deep. The problem is that this monitor is glossier than the top of Mr. Clean. The base, front panel and screen have a glossy finish. The gloss on the bezel distracts from the picture, but the main issue is the high gloss on the screen itself, which causes a lot of glare. If there is ambient light in the room or it is somewhere near a window, some parts of the screen will be so glare that it will be impossible to see them. -+Low Price+Narrow Bezel+IPS+LED+Tilt Adjustment+Excellent Picture+Excellent Brightness Density+Good Colors Cons:----------------- The glossy surface of the screen itself is highly reflective and causes a lot of glare - Glossy base attracts fingerprints and dust - Height is a bit low - No height adjustment or rotation, only tilt (listed in the description so no surprise - be aware.) - Not compatible with VESA mounting options. Conclusion: ---------------- If you need a monitor to be used somewhere close to natural light, the screen will likely be reflective, which can make it difficult at times picture to see. If you don't mind a glossy finish or you use this monitor where glare isn't an issue, it could be a great monitor for you. The image behind all these highlights looks really fantastic. In my case, the glare I get on this monitor in my office (which has a lot of windows) makes it almost unusable. **Updated 2014** I no longer use IPS monitors. I switched to Samsung AD-PLS and have never looked back. I would highly recommend the Samsung Samsung S22C650D 21.5 Inch LCD Monitor to anyone who has glare issues or just wants a matte finish. It's matte black, looks great, has VESA mounts, and Revain is a great price. I am currently using three of these. Thankfully the trend towards black glossy monitors seems to have died down a bit, now we have some great matte finish and anti-glare options.
