Wanted to write a review to help other Mac users, I've tried other IPS monitors, Samsung and even the Dell 2740 IPS display but found that when it comes to the Mac display, most monitors fall short. If, like me, you've been using a Mac for design and photography for most of your life, your eyes will be sensitive to even small changes in color reproduction that most people don't even notice. Almost every second display next to my iMAc so far after about an hour of use I wanted to throw it against the wall. There will always be something that annoys you and drives you crazy. Luckily for me, I stumbled across this one in a store and immediately saw that it's pretty darn close to the output resolution and pixel quality I'm used to when looking at Mac displays. This comes as close as possible to the color rendition that the Mac display puts out. For everything else, I've seen annoying pixelation and crappy anti-aliasing around the edges of text and images while surfing the web, and this monitor is close to the colors of a Mac. Keep in mind that it won't compete with the Cinema display, I'll be honest, BUT it's a compromise on price close enough to make it a cheap and serious competitor. I'd say it's about 90% what a designer or photo/video professional needs, which is more of a compromise than paying to see it in a cinema. I saw a review here (which I sincerely hope was written by some cheeky kid who didn't know any better) advising designers to go for a very expensive display and stop complaining about it that other monitors that don't fit a Mac are great and designers should put up with that and pay a lot more, this person obviously has no idea what a true professional workflow is, and I want this person in a new way and tear way. Coming back to this question, other Mac users have also found this element similar in color to an Apple display, so it's actually good enough as an additional display option. You're paying about 15% for a Thunderbolt display, even to a trained eye, which is nearly 90% color matched. For some reason, Dell couldn't reproduce this quality on any monitor other than this one. I hope this helps all Mac users.
