When my elderly mother called to tell me the CD on her 12 year old Sony had stopped working. I thought no problem, I'll just order another one of the same or similar Sony model. I was amazed when I saw the $600 price tag for a new one! These are crazy nuts! Finding a similar configuration was frustrating as most modern CD players only have FM radio, no AM. I found this repair for $100. A few preset buttons but in general the device works for my mom's needs; it plays CDs and receives AM radio. I understand CDs going the way of the dinosaurs, but for the older generation, that's all many will use. My mother will never use a streaming service. I only wish Sony or anyone else would continue to produce under the counter CD-AM/FM units that are high quality and easy to use. This model is probably affordable in its own way, which is why new ones are so expensive. Find a good refab and you should be more than happy with the preference.
