Review on ๐ŸŒŠ Waterproof Hiking GPS: Magellan Meridian Marine Edition by Joshua Castillo

Revainrating 3 out of 5

good product but software needs revision

I bought Meridian Marine and was disappointed that the BlueNav charting software had serious flaws . Initially, you can only download one small chart per SD card. For example, Chesapeake Bay has 3 different maps, so you will need to erase your SD card and load another map. When you are in a sea kayak it is difficult to take a laptop with you. Also, you cannot download your track to your computer, which is a problem for sailboats. Another option is to buy very large maps on an SD card, which is quite expensive. If you buy this device with the idea of downloading nautical charts, you will be seriously disappointed. Attention buyers, check out Magellan, the website glosses over these shortcomings. The hardware works well, if you want to load maps into the device get an SD card reader, it will save you hours on a serial connection.

Pros
  • Built-in database of US Navy navaids including fixed navaids, buoys, obstructions, wrecks and lighthouses
Cons
  • Exorbitant price
