Review on 🌈 Fasmov Multicolor Filament: Master the Art of Gradually Changing Materials by Tim Blandin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Made a friend happy

Like all silk filament I've tried, this is purely decorative and the layer adhesion isn't as good as regular PLA, but that's fine because it * Rainbow* filament is and also a bit pricey for prototyping (which I mostly do). It prints significantly better than SunLu Silks. The color changes happen with a reasonable frequency, but some of the transitions are a bit unnerving. A print rated around 210 seems to be the golden gap between smooth styling and a matte finish. The dimensional tolerance was very good for the few measurements I took, ranging from 1.73mm to 1.75mm. There was an area of underextrusion that was part of a layer on top and I can't tell if it was filament or the fact that I just installed an all metal thermal break and need to reduce the deduction from 0.6mm to 0 .5mm to prevent the cooling filament from sticking to the metal. Throat. Everything else layed out nicely, although the orange seemed to print a little rougher than the other colors. You probably can't even tell from the photos, it was very subtle and looked more like internal variations in the translucent finish than a size variation. I was very impressed with how well it handles protrusions, where it doesn't sag or pimple even over a prop up to about 70 degrees, and even maintains a nice shine for most of these areas. Most of the time he didn't even touch the supports. I developed my own cooling solution to be honest, so your results may vary. All in all I didn't have to set up much and don't see the need to do anything with it now to continue using it and be completely satisfied. with results. I actually didn't want to use silk threads at all, but if a friend wants something colorful and pretty, I'll make an exception. I would give 4.5 stars instead of 4 if I could. The two downsides are the usual complaints that silk has lower layer adhesion than PLA and that it's not the cheapest filament out there. And I suspect you should pay for higher quality, but I'm not sure if 50% over the current price is justified. Maybe I just wish everything was cheap!

Pros
  • 3D printing filament
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
