Increased stars through customer service

New review 1/12/19 Well, we had a bad cold just before Thanksgiving and the batteries were dead. So it looks like I got 3 months of it which is still better than 1 month but I wish it was better. New review from 10/27/19: 2 months have passed since the installation of the replacement device and the batteries. It still works great, much better than the previous module. I will let you know how long these batteries last but the last unit ate every month and this one is now 2 months old and working fine. Now I'm increasing the star level to 4, and when I have a few more months I will increase it to 5. Nobody will get past this unit. New review 8.27.19: After speaking to Dakota support, they sent me a new transmitter and batteries and explained that sometimes (on the board) something could get stuck eating the batteries. They also sent me a return label to send the old one back. Now it's customer service. I'll install a new one tomorrow and report if the problem persists. I hope not because I love the product and the old one worked for years. If it works well and the battery lasts half a year, then I'll change it to 5 stars. Old review: I've had this product for years and recently my old box broke. I bought a new one a few months ago and while it works great, it drains batteries once a month. The last device ran on 6 AA lithium batteries and although it gave erroneous readings during a thunderstorm it ran for 6 months before the batteries were replaced. This new device is powered by 4 CR batteries that run out every month. Those are expensive batteries. This block is obsolete unless restored to its previous state.
