The Haven fireplace has been lit many times since the flapper was installed but seems to be holding up well. Two problems. easy to remove, maybe the tongue will help. Secondly it is rolled up so make sure you strain it after flattening, I didn't and when I removed the backing it rolled onto itself and is VERY difficult to pull off.
