A simple hack brings better results
One problem concerns the graphite tip for marking. Dims fast. The device works much better when the marker tip is sharp. I was able to screw one of my 0.5mm mechanical pencils into the hole so my tip is now always sharp and easy to advance. Just be gentle and it works great. Also, and this should be obvious, make sure your paper is sealed with tape.
