Review on OXO Good Grips Strainer Stopper by Mike Hamelin

Update 4/28/2020: item was returned for refund and received by Amazon on 4/24/2020; Refund has not yet been granted. I bought an OXO Good Grips 2-in-1 sink strainer stopper to replace a cheap steel strainer in my sink. It seems that these cheap ones all break within a few months. I turned it on as soon as it arrived (about 20 minutes ago). So I figured a filter/connector that costs 500% more would be at least 100% better. I hate it when I'm wrong! Made from silicone, this product has a steel ring that runs along the edge, with approximately 1/16 inch of silicone extending beyond the steel ring. However, it does not fully cover the standard 3 1/2 inches. a kitchen sink drain so it doesn't seal the joint, allowing water to drain under the edges when the plug is put into operation. Instead of sealing the inside diameter of the drain like the cheap ones do, nothing prevents the sink from leaking. Also, the rim of the strainer extends about 1/16 inch above the level of the sink. This prevents almost all debris from running into the strainer, requiring all debris to be pushed into the strainer by hand or removed from the sink manually. This is a lose-lose situation for the buyer.
