Review on Flange Square Included Anchor Bolts by Craig Kumar

This is a well made flanged base for surface mounting 2" x 2" or 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" aluminum fence posts. I liked that the post was designed to go through the flange. However. They will not fit a standard 2x2 aluminum bar. As you can see from the attached photos I had to cut the flange and hammer the top. Then I was able to press the flange into the strut with a rubber mallet. Like other buyers, I found that the included anchor bolts didn't hold. I used the recommended 1/2" masonry bit, but the anchor didn't cut. I pushed the anchor sleeve with a screwdriver and drove it into the hole. As I tightened the bolt it seemed to hold until I pushed down on the post a little, after which the entire lag bolt came loose. The Tapcon 5/16 bolt seemed to work fine, but the red 3/8 by 2 1/4 bolt worked best. head wedge anchor. The manufacturer should shorten the flange for easier installation and include a much better anchor wedge.
