As for the plastic holders, this device is great and you can use it vertically or horizontally. Don't move it, but the connection from the holder itself to your expensive GPS isn't that strong. I replaced it after 9 months of use after the plastic arm broke. Has been used a lot but it's just a plastic lever and it works about as well as you would expect from a plastic lever that I've read bad reviews about (road glitches) that resulted in the loss of their $600 unit and I could see it happen but it hasn't happened to me and i've learned to hear an audible click when i put it on the holder. i would need to have some sort of safety latch before moving to the 750 rim.
