Edit: I'm an idiot. I was expecting it to click like a socket wrench a few times. The click/tear is barely noticeable - not much movement. Tech support suggested checking a higher setting, which I did, and now I know what the gap feels like and what to look for when reaching the advertised torque. Torque to the lowest setting (10 ft-lb) just to watch it "free up" when too much torque is applied. But as I pressed harder and harder, nothing happened. To make sure I wasn't crazy (or weak), I took some 5 pound dumbbells and put them on the handle to apply some strength. The handle shank was parallel to the ground, and the wrench head was attached to the nut. The wrench held 20 lb weights and would not move at the minimum 10 ft-lb setting. The distance from the head of the wrench to the weights on the handle was just over a foot (about 13 to 14 inches) so the torque applied was actually over 20 ft-lbs. I've tried playing around a bit with different torque settings and still nothing. Seems to be a completely defective device. Very disappointed.
