Nice Large Cross Stitch Pattern

These die cut sets are new to me but I have already made a very complex set. The die-cut pattern completely eliminates the old "counting” method. Think of it like painting by numbers, but with threads. This set has everything you need. It comes in a zipped pouch with instructions on the back. The die cut pattern itself is HUGE! The stamp lies perfectly on the fabric and the fabric edges are finished. It softens a bit as you work on it and you don't really need a tire. The colors/symbols printed on the fabric are not the actual thread color but the thread code. Don't let that confuse you when you open it for the first time. All DMC filaments are included, as well as a number/symbol key and reference pages showing a printed pattern showing the actual filament colors with their coordinating symbols. Contains two needles. I haven't washed the finished stamped set yet, so I can't comment on how easy the process is. My only complaint (and it's minor and the reason it gets 4 stars) is that this model has a white stripe at the top and bottom where there is no printing. In these places you can not make seams even with white threads, but this can be confusing for a beginner. Not sure why they did that, maybe that's why the grid is even in blocks of ten, but everything still lines up and matches the printed chart if you need to count. I took a close-up to show this white area and grid. After washing, this unprinted area within the mesh does not matter. One issue I've noticed from other reviewers of these kits is the lack of filament issues. This set requires three threads for X stitches and two threads for reverse stitches. I think what people don't understand is that a piece of thread is made up of 6 separate threads and you have to separate them to get 3 threads. My last set had a lot of extra thread left over after I finished it. I made sure to work in tight sections to avoid jumping around and wasting thread. Additional DMC thread can be purchased at craft stores if needed, but if you use 3 threads you should be fine. I definitely recommend this set! It will look like a work of art when framed. I can't wait to start working on it!

Pros
  • Thread Color and Total Stitch Count
Cons
  • Crumpled Wrapping
