I wanted my iPad to attach to the yoke (steering wheel) of an airplane and it looked like a good alternative to the $180 version that works. The clip didn't stick very well to the oval, smooth plastic strap. I tried wrapping it with strips of rubber (like pieces of the inner tube) and that helped, but it still sagged over time. Finally, I used several layers of rubber-coated mesh to keep the rug in place, and it feels thick enough to round out the oval shape, and tacky enough not to slip on a tie or clip. The clamp opens wide and is easily adjustable for fastening. The swivel head could do with a little more adjustment range, but it works. The iPad clip is easy to install and remove from the iPad, but I had to remove the cover. It would be a small design change to make the fingers a bit longer to allow the iPad to fit in the case. Overall I'm happy with 1/10 the price of the special design.
