I bought this red and black version of this thermometer from another seller. While I like the display, big numbers, and quick setup, this red has one major downside. The battery compartment is kind of crooked, I don't know why, but the battery wobbles, sits too high on the contact behind it, and therefore the lid is very difficult to close. The result of this probably weak/wobbly contact is that the display resets to some weird 'numbers' and blinks about every hour or so. After pressing the lid it mostly comes back, but after a few minutes or hours the same thing. I like the concept but this one is really bad. Maybe seeing other satisfied customers just slipped a bad thermometer through quality control. *EDIT November 4, 2019* The seller contacted me about a broken red thermometer and sent me a free replacement. They also gave me some tips to fix the old one but it didn't work forever. The replacement works well to find, as does the black version. The battery compartment is sealed and keeps the battery well connected. No problem since receipt. The fish and I are happy. Perfect customer service. Many Thanks. Now changed to 5 stars. Black still works like a charm.
