You really need to coat the inside of the tool with some kind of rubber to protect the surface of the nuts. The tool barely fits in my rims anyway, so I couldn't even put a thin layer of plastic between the tool and the nut and still mount it. I've tried both a plastic bag and a cut 5 mil rubber glove, but both were secured to the rim in such a way that I couldn't turn the nut by hand and didn't want to tighten it with more torque. Wrench so as not to damage the thread. When you buy something for the finish, it seems the manufacturer wants to make an installation tool that doesn't damage the product. I gave it 2 stars because it's hard to see damage to the finish when the cleats are installed, but if the damage was obvious I would give it 1 star. However, as long as you have room to put a thin layer of plastic or rubber between the tool and the lug nuts, you should be fine. The overall diameter of the tool corresponds to the maximum diameter of the nut. So if the nut fits your washers, the tool will fit too.
