Review on 🎧 AT33PTG/2 Dual Moving Coil Cartridge by Audio-Technica for Turntables by Jamie Dawson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hard to believe that this cartridge can be beat!

I use Thorens 126 Mk III and Dynavector 505. Electronics - German AVM, homemade Fostex speakers modified by Klipsch type Eckhorns. In this environment the AT33PTG/II delivers a lively, natural and breathable reproduction with crystal clear and well defined high frequencies (especially with percussive instruments like RCA's "Bang, Barroom and Harp" or the completely natural finger snapping on Ulla's instrument). my corner). "The Dancer"), excellent channel separation and perfect reproduction of harsh attacks like Harry James' trumpet in the Sheffield Lab "King James Version". That doesn't mean there's any noticeable flaws in the mid-range or low-end, though, which is as deep and smooth as you can dream. But I'm afraid there is (and never has been) an M/C cartridge on the market that has enough matchstick to keep track of those extremely loud shots. There are much more expensive pickups out there. But after using the AT33PTG on a couple of critical platters I can't figure out why I should spend more money.
