I was having temperature issues on my X5, luckily it was just the thermostat but at the same time the coolant level sensor was failing (intermittently) so I was having symptoms downpipe, I got that an exhaust check, eventually was I made sure the head gasket wasn't the problem and did the rest of the troubleshooting. I think it's worth having on hand and hopefully never getting a positive test.
