2001 Porsche Boxster S - works perfectly!

My 2001 Boxster had a key stuck in the ignition and a few days ago I was unable to insert the key and the steering column did not lock immediately when I removed the key. So I tried a few more to make sure it just sticks, but no luck. A couple of times the key was not removed! If these are your symptoms. You need to replace your ignition switch immediately before you get stuck anywhere! I've watched a few YouTube videos on "Replacing a 2001 Porsche Boxster Ignition Switch" and also went to Pedrosgarage com and found detailed instructions. how to replace the ignition switch Very good instructions on his website. In my case, in addition to routing a section of the vent line under the dash, I also removed the left-hand dash vent (not in the Pedros guide). You can also find a few YouTube videos on how to remove the left dashboard air duct on a Porsche Boxster. It took me about 10 minutes to remove the canal. Removing the breather makes it much easier to remove/replace the two set screws shown in the Pedros instructions that hold the ignition switch in place. You only have to loosen the 2 threaded pins, do not unscrew them completely! Follow Pedro's instructions and you won't have any problems! When replacing a new switch, note that the two guides (wings) on the switch must be inserted into the slots in the housing (top). Also, the center notch must be aligned and seated in the center of the key shell. The total time since I also removed the left side vent was about 1 hour! The part worked perfectly and the ignition comes on, it pulls out easily and the column blocks immediately!
