False advertising - but maybe it's worth it for you

I wanted to give this 5 stars because it's pretty cool and works for me with no problems but they lie on this site about what can be done so be it be aware of this before purchasing. WARNING: You CANNOT create bathymetric maps with Deeper Chirp. This requires built-in GPS, which is only available on the Deeper Chip+. This page states that you can create bathymetric charts, but NOT. I called and spoke to support just in case I was doing something wrong and they confirmed that CHIRP (no plus) does not have this ability. Now. Why you might still want to buy it. My pros and cons. Cons: 1. The setup would be quite confusing. There is nothing in the instructions except pictures with no explanation. It didn't bother me too much because I watched a YouTube video about it while waiting for it to appear here, so I already knew what to do. However, I will say that I still got lost in a part when I put it in the water and couldn't connect it, but the app itself helped me to connect pretty well. So not only are they blind, but they also advise watching a video.2. No bathymetric mapping. It sucks, but you also have to consider that it's $200 cheaper than CHIRP+, so you just have to wonder if you care enough about bathymetric mapping. It uses the GPS on your phone to show your location as it scans, so you can still go back and see where you were during the scan. You just can't see the depths and those you previously scanned.3. Tie one of your poles. You can always buy a cheap strong rod and string on a good line just for that (I did) but be aware it will tie one of your rods. If you use it to scan and then fish it's fine but I really enjoyed throwing it up, finding a good spot and then throwing live bait next to it so I could see the area I have bait in can scan. 4. Lots of misinformation about fish. It's not necessarily a unit bug, it's because I'm also learning more about setting options, but if you get one just find out if it shows a bunch of fish in one spot, it's most likely just a bubble or something below. Water. It's not a big deal, but if you have the fish alarm enabled, the beep can be annoying with false alarms. PROS: 1. Pretty cool. Can't confirm accuracy yet because I haven't caught anything, only caught one night so I don't assume it's inaccurate, but it was actually fun to go to my usual fishing holes and see what's out there. vicinity. Little did I know that the pond I am fishing in is currently very shallow and has a maximum depth of 6 feet during the hot Oklahoma summer, so it is currently not suitable for fishing. But now I know which spots on this pond are now 5ft, 6ft, and 7ft. I wouldn't have known that without her.2. Once you understand how it works, connecting is pretty quick and easy. I turn on my Chirp and it connects to my phone almost immediately. I don't know the exact distances, but I've thrown a pretty decent distance and not once had connection issues after going through the learning phase.3. Many functions in the app. You can change the metric to imperial, day to night fishing (screen from black to white, white during the day helps a lot for sunrise viewing, you can change the sensitivity, fish alert (alert if he realizes what he's thinking. fish), set it to "night fishing" so if you have an orange top like mine the light inside will flash so you can see it even at night. Your area.4. Quite small. I doubt it will fit in a tackle box, but it's about the size and weight of a baseball. You can definitely feel it on your pole and it will bother you throwing a $300 load :) But be aware that as it has a decent weight you don't have to throw it hard, just let it be that weight get there . Feels hard enough. The plastic doesn't look like toy plastic or anything like that. It feels like he can get over a few bumps and he's doing fine. 6. Battery life was ok. I think mine is down to 70% and my phone is down to 20%. Recommendations before/when you buy: 1. Watch the accompanying video so you are already familiar with the setup. Really helps 2. Realize you're not getting bathymetric mapping3. Be sure to buy something to hold your phone. Trying to wind it up and hold it is very, very awkward.4. The battery seems good, but don't forget that you have to use a phone or tablet. If you are going to be away for a long time, you may need a booster to charge your phone or more. While you learn how to use it and how it works, don't worry about fishing. Go to your favorite fishing spot(s) and just cast and see what's underwater. For me, the most fun part was learning something I didn't know before about the places I fish regularly. Items I bought with mine: A phone holder that attaches to the pole (note: you need a pole that has a thick part in front of the roller or something). mine, behind the spool. It needs something to hook up to but I did a great job finding the spot.) It's more for night fishing but I still like it better because I can see it better than the green spilling into the water . But if you're going night fishing with your Deeper this should be a must have. Just what the heck why not because the price was low and I LOVE it. If you like fishing with live bait or on the pier or the like you will be thrown back in your chair. that worked great for me. I just attached it to the armrest of my folding fishing chair and the gooseneck on it is HEAVY. I mean you notice every vibration, but it was like bending soft metal (not that hard to turn/move, just an expression of how strong it seems). Once I had it where I wanted it I felt 100% comfortable because it would hold my phone right there. Love it even if not for that, maybe you could use it for something else.
