I'm embarrassed to admit that my shower looked awful even so, but since I moved in it's a disgusting mess - the previous tenant didn't have time to clean it and we have very hard water. I've tried EVERYTHING to delete this thing. I wiped down my dad with strong detergent, a whole shelf of cleaning supplies, "homemade" cleaning supplies, EVERYTHING. I spent HOURS cleaning this thing and all I got was disappointment (I shed real tears over that shower). But five minutes after I dumped some Comet spray in my shower and then used those brushes, I'm blown away. It saved me so much time and effort. I enlisted my husband's help and had to change the drill's battery - we desperately need another drill - but seriously, after about 30 minutes and with minimal effort, my shower is looking amazing. I haven't used them a couple of times so can't comment on how they hold up but first use was great. I bought the blue set and am very happy with how they work. For heavily textured areas like the shower floor, I highly recommend changing the direction of the drill bit to ensure you get through all the nooks and crannies. If like me you've sat in your car with them for a while, please bite the bullet and give them a try.
