Review on Metabo HPT W6VM Drywall Screwdriver: Efficient and Powerful Tool for Precision Work by Ethan Delaney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Super fast, powerful and with minimal hand strain

I love this screwdriver! The only bad thing I can say about it is the cheap green rubber graphics it has. The first day I put it on the hot steel roof it started falling off. The weapon is in the 8th month of service. Wanted to wait to review it after abusing it. Most drywall professionals work indoors. I work year-round outdoors in the Midwest. I converted this screwdriver to install 1/4" hex self-tapping screws on the support legs. All you need is the correct conical tip (from Hitachi CS) and a 2 9/16" (1/4") magnetic wrench. .Imagine how many screws I turned with it in 8 months! Imagine a barn that is 200 feet long and 80 feet wide and how many screws it takes to do that. Two sides of the roof, walls and part of the finish. The company I work for supplies Dewalt 2300 rpm screw guns. These guns made my forearm muscles ache at the end of the day. After a few hundred feet of steel wall with an extension ladder. The Hitachi gun's speed and torque is over the top at times, but my hand feels good at the end of a 10-12 hour workday. 1st speed. My productivity has increased 10x. Stay up to date with people who have been with the company for 5+ years, my first year. 2. power. With torque. To go through sheet metal, hit the gusset/truss clamp and go right into the wood with ease. You can see people fighting Dewalt and even damaging the steel. 3. Fatigue. no My arms tense up more when I walk up the stairs. Its low weight and excellent hand contours. Can be used with the right or left hand. Hitachi does the work, not you.4. Persistence. Illinois weather is unpredictable. I use W6VM in all weather. Hot and cold weather, snow, sleet, drizzle, dirt, mud, gravel, clay and sand. He was kicked, kicked and thrown. Trigger the lock and let it run at full power for up to 20 minutes without unlocking it. Never overheated or hung. The engine didn't miss a beat or lose power.5. Defects. The green rubber on it is a nice attempt at comforting my hand, but it's cheap and doesn't match the gun's hard plastic. The depth adjustment cone now shows some wear. It will probably have to be replaced next year. But hey, for what it's been through I can justify replacing 2 moving parts. Finally, the long cord is a nice feature. You unplug the extension cord. On a 100 foot roof I usually get by with a 25 foot extension.
