Sticky and not very easy to use, but the original seal in my Volvo V50 headlight was a similar black sticky rubber material. The original material was a little less sticky, but that might be because it's 15 years old. Pain deleting old stuff, but deleting as best I can. Apply a new rubber seal, put the headlight cover back onto the base and press down firmly enough to replace the clips. I warmed it up with a hair dryer and it helped. It takes time and patience, but finally everything is fine again. Have to wait for the next rain to see if the water hits the headlight again. A few hours of work, but a new headlight costs at least $350, so it's a lot cheaper.
