This bypasses the parking brake so you can choose which phone to connect via Bluetooth without the parking brake. My other cars have this option from the OEM but this radio chose to connect to the parking brake. Easy to install and the included instructions are just what you need for installation. Unplugging and wiring the radio is enough. It works so well I installed it in my son's car when we replaced his radio. Whether this is required depends on the particular radio as not all radios can be selected to link this feature to the parking brake.
