No NFS support and CPU underutilized

I had problems with this device because when I only had 2 Linux VMs writing to it with Samba the LS200 CPU was busy and the kernel the Linux -VM could see an insane amount of CPU wait %, 40-60% remain. This NAS fully supports NFS, a much more advanced protocol than SMB, except for the fact that the kernel it comes with is not configured to communicate over NFS. Compared to other devices on the market, this thing is slimmed down, so buy the TeraStation line of products if you want to take advantage of NFS. This thing cannot handle two parallel SMB/CIFS/Windows filesharing transfers (2 PCs to one NAS) at the same time with maximum throughput due to CPU limitations. Don't buy this if you need performance. This is normal for nightly HomeOffice backups. I'm giving 2 stars for the UI as I haven't found a native way to control the system's CPU/memory usage.

Pros
  • Datastore
Cons
  • I'll write back later
