After reading reviews of punctured and/or punctured tires with a blue protective coating that was difficult to remove, I was reluctant to order them. Thank goodness I was influenced by extremely positive reviews. I received the tires today - there is no blue coating, they are perfectly smooth everywhere except where the bolts are placed. There are some areas where you could snag a chip, but I was able to remove most of it easily without leaving rough edges. Even with arthritis in my hands, I could easily turn all the screws to make adjustments. They are much stronger than the large wooden hoops I use for embroidery/framing. Believe me they are perfect for the Christmas decoration I want to make for my family.
