I never write reviews but we bought this for our 6 year old daughter for Christmas hoping we could spark her interest in science. I have to say it's a good weight, very stable and very well made! My husband and I were amazed at the quality of the microscope's materials and how smoothly it worked. We took it out of the box and "tested" it upon arrival by swabbing our dogs' ear mucus, our own saliva, hair follicles and plants we have around the house. We found that our dog's ears were just dirty and didn't have any mites, and we really enjoyed changing the magnification. Dials are smooth and durable. The material is high quality and we could not find any design flaws. We bought some pre-installed slides and blanks (as suggested by Amazon), we both agree our whole family will have lots of fun with this. It is more of a tool than a toy and needs our daughter's supervision. We are definitely looking forward to taking our scientific curiosity to the world around us!
