Review on πŸšͺ Chamberlain G953EV-P2 Garage Door Opener Remote - 3-Button, Security +2.0 Compatible, Visor Clip - Black, Small by Jamie Behm

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great but read instructions before programming

After over 10 years the remote control (model #953T) for my 2005 Chamberlain garage door opener has died. I needed a new one and was looking for Revain to replace my original. Since I couldn't find anything similar, I settled on this model, which has claimed to work with all Chamberlain garage door openers since 1993. It all got off to a rocky start as I struggled to extract the new opening mechanism from the shell. tray packaging. Things got even worse when I tried to program the remote using the same method I used to program the original. I pressed the purple "learn" button on my opener, held the button down on the new remote, and nothing happened. Frustrated, I unpacked the instructions (I know it's my fault for not reading them first). This new remote control has a button marked "PROG" on the back under a metal clip. You need to press this button and then press the desired button on the front panel 1-3 times (depending on the color of your learning button) to setup the remote. Once that's done, press the learn button on the opener, then press the desired button on the remote and you're done. It's pretty easy (if you read the instructions). This all took me about 10 minutes, although it would have been less than five if I had read the instructions first. Now that everything is programmed, everything works exactly as it should. The range is good and a short press reliably opens the door. I like that there is an indicator light to show what it is transmitting, this was absent on my previous model and made troubleshooting difficult when it stopped working. The only thing I don't like about the remote control is that it's very difficult to open (not that I need it, just be careful here). I had to use a screwdriver to pry it open and it chewed on the plastic a bit. Upon opening it I noticed that it uses the same CR2032 button cell battery as my old remote (and a few other electronics I have). It's a minor annoyance that's only needed (hopefully) a few times a decade. In general I am very satisfied. It works reliably with my Chamberlain opener and is easy to program (if you read the instructions).
