Rubber cracked after 5 months of use

Bought 2 of these for my '94 Toyota Camry. Both the box and sleeve were marked "Made in Japan". Very pretty! I removed the old bushings and pressed them in myself. The rubber seems very hard-wearing, the metal ring lies firmly in the hand. Overall it feels like it will last a long time. I'm giving it 5 stars now and we'll see. Every six months I will check here and leave a review. Install Date: February 20, 2012. Updated June 10, 2012. Down 2 stars, now 3 stars. Yesterday I was working under the car and noticed a crack in the rubber around the inner metal tube! The original rubber came off the outer ring, but this comes off the inner ring. I'll keep watching, I hope there won't be any more stars going down. Updated August 31, 2014. Down to 2 stars. I've been riding bumps for over 2 weeks, finally found the time today to check the front suspension and lo and behold! Both sockets are gone after 2.5 years of moderate use. One has the rubber separated from the inner tube, the other from the outer tube. They didn't even last 1/10th the life of the original bushings and now I have to do all the work all over again. I'm not giving them 1 star as I want to buy other brands and I may have lower quality bushings. One thing is for sure, I will not buy these things again. Made in Japan in this case does not mean a quality product.

Pros
  • Metal bushing/rubber bushing design ensures proper alignment, stability and durability
Cons
  • Unusable features
