Review on SUNLITE Brake 69 96Mm Reach Silver by Keith Desjarlais

Easy stop solution

I used the front brake as part of my wife's e-bike conversion - the front wheel of her 20" folding bike had a Sturmey Archer drum brake, but the Swytch wheel I replaced did , she had instead motor. Since there are no eyelets for V-brakes or cantilever brakes and no mount for a disc caliper, I went with the side-pull caliper solution as there is a hole in the top of the fork that is only used as a caliper fender mount and deflector. The caliper is installed and reaches the fender fairly quickly and easily. All I had to do was adjust the position of the brake shoe to the rim. The hardest part was getting the cable tension right - and an extra pair of hands or a cable puller comes in handy at this point! The pads aren't very grippy - they either have to be pryed open or pressed lightly to grab the rim with less leverage, but the mechanism is pretty solid!

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Not bad
