I needed/wanted to replace my aging dlink dap-1522 and wanted something that would cover my whole house. 1522 was a good apartment but could not get to the top floor of our 3 storey apartment/townhouse. I bought a companion router for my daughter who is in college and it has worked very well, never failed or given her any problems and in almost a year she has not had to restart it once. I saw this Companion Wap and was a previous dlink customer. I chose to do this based on strength of usage and my daughter's ads. I went to Amazon, found it at a great price and bought it. Received, installed and repaired in minutes. I have full power on all 3 floors of the house. all rooms, even with closed doors, including the bathroom! We can also sit outside in front or behind the house and still get a lot of signal. So far I haven't had any problems with it; I'm glad I chose this product. I've never worried about it working, all my other dlink products have worked and this one is no exception! dlink makes great products and I've never had a major problem with them. They all worked as advertised and all got better over time. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a good wap to cover a large area. oh yes, our walls are made of plaster and latticework, with lots of metal beams, and the signal still works on every floor. dispel your fears! oh yes, support, I updated the firmware immediately, since it was available, everything went without any problems. I'm very glad I got this and at a great price!
