The car started normally when the engine was cold (after a few hours of inactivity). When the engine was hot (immediately after driving) it started normally. The car did NOT start when the engine was warm (rest between 30 minutes and 1 hour). All signs pointed to a defective fuel pump. Replacing this part solved the problem! Saved a lot of money on a DIY project!
