Despite several months of failure when I first bought it (Apple screwed up an OS update), this device is fantastic. I use it with my MacBook Air (2013) to add a third monitor. (My laptop, second monitor and third monitor). GoFanco informed me of Apple's efforts to fix the problem, and although it took a few months, it worked with the next OS update. I can't blame GoFanco for Apple's mistakes. I felt they went above and beyond to support their product. I highly recommend them. The monitor I'm using it with isn't a high-end monitor, so I can't comment on performance above 1080p, but on my 23-inch ViewSonic 1080p monitor, the image is bright and sharp. with a subtle color.
