I consider the Wix XP series to be the best oil filter you can buy. The frequency of oil changes depends on whether you fall under "heavy duty" or not. If you drive in extremely dusty conditions, pull heavy loads, or mainly drive stop and go, I would change the oil and filter twice as often. Under normal driving conditions, you can safely drive 10-15,000 miles between oil changes with the Wix XP filter along with synthetic oil. I would cut that in half or even more in heavy riding conditions (again using Wix XP plus synthetic oil).
