The switch is mislabeled.
The red switch on the back of the converter transformer is mislabeled. 50 watts should read 120 volts and 1600 watts should read 200 volts. Be sure to set the switch to the 50W position to get 120 volts. 200 volts will burn whatever you plug in when the switch is set for 1600 watts.
